2-D/3-D Display & Sales Rules

• Space is awarded on first come, first-serve basis. If you are worried about not being able to secure space at the time of the convention, please look into reserving your space ahead of time.
  
• Almost anything may be displayed as long as, the piece is anime, sci-fi or fantasy related, and you give credit where credit is due. If you have multiple pieces we suggest at least one be anime-themed/related please.
• Items such as bookmarks, multiple prints, etc. will not be allowed. (If you wish to sell such items, please make use of our Artist's Alley). We are not a store front, this is an area for one of a kind, speacialty or limited edition items.
• Flat Artwork must be mounted, matted, or framed. All artwork is to be hung on a series of grid panels and must be prepared accordingly. Construction paper, thin paper backings, sheet protectors can NOT be substituted for heavy stock mattes, foam board, or frames. (Heavy stock refers to at least 120 lb weight paper and is not easily bendable or rollable.) All framed pieces must have a hook or line from which the piece can be hung flat against the grid using standard s-hooks. Matted/Mounted pieces will be suspended with clips and hung on s-hooks. Please prepare your pieces accordingly. These requirements are to ensure the safety of the patrons and the artwork.
• Models/sculptures that are free-standing should have good support. These pieces will be placed on available table space. You may also attach some form of hanging device.
• All artwork must be clearly labeled and must include the artist's name, title of the piece, and medium. If the piece is fan art, please also include source material as well. All artwork must also have a bid sheet whether for sale or not, and a control sheet must also be filled out (the latter two are to keep track of your artwork.)
• Artwork must be classified as "For Sale" or "Not For Sale(NFS)". Remember to place a minimum bid, a quick-sale price, and a Sunday sale price on the bid sheet. (The minimum bid is the starting bid you wish for your piece. The quick-sale price is intended for an immediate, non-auction sale, while the Sunday price is usually a reduced price for quick sale on Sunday.) ALL FAN ART SHOULD BE MARKED NOT FOR SALE, this is in compliance with Art Show's policy regarding content. You may find them HERE on the Message Boards. This means "NFS" should be marked in any or all of the price boxes on the bid sheets of any Fan Art piece. Art Show reserves the right to mark any piece as NFS if it is found to be Fan Art trying to pass as a sellable piece.
• Worked reproductions cannot be sold (must be classified "Not for Sale") and must be credited appropriately or will be turned away or, if discovered, subject to removal. A worked reproduction is defined as a composition of an existing, published piece of artwork, such as images from a poster or an art book.
• Auction: All pieces that receive three or more bids go to auction. The Art Show Director reserves the right to change this number at their discretion.
• Pieces may not be withdrawn, nor may the conditions of sale (amount of minimum bid, not for sale status, quick sale amounts, etc.) be changed without the express approval of the Art Show Director once entered into the show.
• All artwork must be claimed on Sunday, no later than 5:00 PM. Any artwork left after that time will become the property of Anime Weekend Atlanta.

General Gallery Display

Since AWA is a family friendly convention, we naturally have a few things that are not acceptable to be displayed in Art Show. For those of you who are new to the art world, new to Art Show, or just plain curious, here's the list:

• No explicit nudity (artistic is allowed).
• No gratuitous violence.
• No obscenities (obscene gestures, extreme brutalitiy, racial slurs, etc).

All art at AWA's Art Show is inspected before the gallery doors open, so if a piece with any of the previous offenses is present it will be removed. We would like it not to get to the point where art has to be removed from the display so ANY questions regarding subject matter should be sent to the Art Show Director. Please note that all display is subject to the Art Show Director's discretion.

Adult Gallery Display

AWA Art Show now has an adult display area which will feature works rated above the general display area rating cut-off of PG-13 (R or greater). Anyone wishing to view this area must bring government issued I.D. as this area will be for those 18 and older only, no exceptions. Contact the Art Show Director at artshow@awa-con.com if you have any questions about submitting content for this area of display. Please note that all display is subject to the Art Show Director's discretion.

Note: These pieces will be sectioned off from the public gallery in a draped section in the back of Art Show. Any pieces submitted must not rely upon lighting of any kind, as we employ the use of curtains and they allow limited privacy. In order to keep this a family friendly convention we require no light fixtures of any kind in the Adult Gallery, please plan accordingly.

Pricing Schedule

BEFORE THE CONVENTION

2D Artwork: $12.00 for a 4' X 4' space. Limit is 4 panels of space per artist. Please note that we use 2' by 4' grid panels, so please contact the Art Show Director if special arrangements need to be made, as in the case of large pictures.

3D Artwork and Models: $12.00 per half table (area is roughly 3' by 2', depending on which tables are available). All pieces entered into the model show are automatically entered into the model show contest. Please note that this is a separate cost from the 2-D space, so if you wish to enter both types of work, you must pay for both table AND grid space.

Adult Gallery Pieces: Currently submitting to the Adult Gallery is FREE. Public Gallery rules apply just the same as to the Adult Gallery.

AWA charges a 10% commission on pieces sold at the Art Show, including those that go to auction.

AT THE CONVENTION

(Friday September 27th)

Bidding/Auction Rules

In order to make any bids at the Art Show Auction (Verbal or Silent), a buyer must purchase what we call a "Bidder's Token" for the price of $1.00 from the Art Show welcome desk. It is important to note that all buyers are expected to honor their bids should they win the auction on a piece and that all bids are legally binding including bids that have been marked out. Your written bid is the same as a contract agreeing to buy the item at the price specified. For those who have already purchased a bidder's token previously, please see the Art Show Director at the convention.

Any art that has a bid on it may no longer be purchased at the quick sale price.

All art that receives three or more bids will go to Verbal Auction. Pieces with one or two bids may be purchased by the most recent/highest bidder after the Verbal Auction.

All remaining art not sold or bid upon at the Silent Auction can be purchased on Sunday for the Sunday sale price.

All winning bids must be paid for and all purchased art collected by 4:00 PM on Sunday. Artists should pick up any remaining pieces by 5:00 PM Sunday as any remaining pieces after that time will become property of Anime Weekend Atlanta.

Any buyer who does not collect the works they have bid on will have collections procedures instituted against them after Art Show is closed. Uncollected art will be considered abandoned. The buyer will be responsible for any shipping and insurance of abandoned art that has to be shipped by AWA.

All participants are responsible for checking the status of their bids. Art Show will NOT consider negligence an acceptable excuse for absence of payment or pick-up of artwork.

If you are the winning bidder on an item and you do not remit payment for the piece at the show, your contact information will be given to the artist so that they can arrange for payment and shipping of the item you've won.
